fishy business
t-shirt
design
Fishy Business is a personal brand I had created for my Illustration final project. I combined my love for weird fish and illustrations through this project. The core message- "Embrace The Ugly", is to tell people that your flaws and insecurities are what makes you, you!

I had a lot of fun in this project, despite the amount of time I had and the challenges I had to face. In the end, I'm really satisfied with this project and hope that people can relate to the message.
Excitingly, Fishy Business was chosen to be displayed at the 2024 Kuala Lumpur Illustration Fair! It was truly a surreal experience getting to see my works displayed in such a manner ^-^
I was really inspired with innocent-looking horror games during the time I worked on this project. I believe that's what inspired me to draw weird fish.
For my Packaging final project, I had decided to redesign a franchise that I collect- Sylvanian Families! Truth be told, this project really tested me, as graphic design was something I was still very new at, but I think this project really helped me improve on my skills.
packaging redesign

character design
I've always known that illustration is my biggest strength, so as the main motif for this project, I redesigned the beloved characters. The cozy, warm, atmosphere was something I wanted to capture through my illustrations. I'm happy with the final outcome.

I had a lot of trouble designing this Point-Of-Purchase display. But thanks to my lecturer's advice and belief in me, I managed to produce something cool!

jellyfish illustrations

This illustration assignment had us create 3 different illustrations using 3 different techniques: vector, raster, as well as raster combined with traditional art. The main subject of all 3 illustrations had to be the same, so I chose my favourite sea creature- the jellyfish.
The Breakfast Jellyfish was the one I had most trouble with as I had to make it fully vectored in Adobe Illustrator. I was already struggling with using Illustrator to begin with, so this piece was definitely a good challenge, especially since I wanted to invoke a feeling of warmth and texture.

vector
Creating a whole illustration in Illustrator was so difficult! Keeping layers organised, groups clean- I definitely have respect for vector artists.

For the raster + traditional combination piece, I used gouache to paint the background and Procreate for the jellyfish and extra details. I wanted to create a magical, Ghibli-inspired nature feeling through this piece, so I drew a nature scene where the jellyfish had a mushroom cap for its head and its trellis were a bunch of leaves.

raster + traditional

raster

For my raster piece, I did the complete opposite of the previous two pieces, going for an eery, horror aesthetic instead. As I'm used to my warm and cozy colours, this proved to be a challenge! I love horror and creepy art, so this was a good way to practice it in my own style.

I enjoyed working on this project overall as it combined many of the things I loved- stories, illustrations, and an eery twist. For the story itself, I had changed the classic children's tale to a story about climate change, and the effects of pollution towards our earth. In the story, instead of posing the wolf as a villain, the wolf has be ran out of the woods due to deforestation, and ultimately sacrifices himself to save Little Red from getting attacked from Granny, who got taken over the angry spirits of the woods. In the end, Little Red realises her red cloak has been drenched with blood all along.

Arranging, illustrating, finding fonts and figuring out the layout- this project was a fun puzzle for me.
storybook
design
For my typography final assignment, we had to rewrite and design a storybook. I had chosen little red riding hood, and was inspired and influenced by the art nouveau movement. In this storybook, I had made inky illustrations to accompany the story that I had also written myself.

digital publishing - biopic ♡
"Stories in Songs" was the biopic I had created and designed for my Digital Publishing final project. I knew that this assignment would be a good exercise for me to work on my graphic design skills, as I usually prefer more illustrative works. Next to that, I wanted to make the biopic represent the chosen artist, Melanie Martinez's journey in her career. To do that, I had changed the feel and aesthetic of the pages according to the era of music Martinez was in. I feel that this assignment really made me fall in love with graphic design, as it pushed me to learn many new things and techniques!

For my internship period during
January - May 2025, I had I gotten the opportunity to intern at Wizard Within! It definitely helped me improve more on my illustration and graphic design skills, and it was such a valuable experience.
One of the projects I had worked on was designing bookmarks for the Kuala Lumpur Illustration Fair 2025, as Wizard Within was participating. Although there were plenty of hurdles and challenges, it was all worth it- and I am so grateful of this opportunity, as I am a big fan of
this event.

Next to the bookmarks, I had also designed and created labelling for some clay kits. It was definitely a valuable journey as it taught me how to use softwares like Illustrator more efficiently. Hierarchy, consistency, colour usage and readability- I had to take all of this to account when creating and designing.

This internship had given me first-hand experience of being a full-time artist in the industry. I'll continue working hard!

Final Year Project - Snaggletooth

For my final year project, I had created and designed a personal brand named Snaggletooth.
-
Snaggletooth is a personal brand that aims to spread the message of embracing one’s flaws and imperfections.
-
The main goal is to encourage oneself to embrace their ugliness inside of them.
-
The fruit and bug imagery is my way of illustrating that anything with rot is still something with life.

Tiny the tree!
As for the art prints, I had created two different designs- one titled "full of rot, full of life" and the other titled "anatomy of an apple". I illustrated them using Procreate.

I had created a lot of merchandise for this project, but my main one was blind-box style keychains. I had created a life-sized apple tree with apple gachapons so that people could "pick" their apple.
There were 5 different styles overall, and 1 secret design. Each design represented a form of flaw or blemish that we possess, like wanting to have more or wanting to be less of something.
Build-a-bug is a fun interactive character maker that embraces the weird, the ugly, the silly, and the like. I used the website Picrew and illustrated silly, eery, and cute details in this game. Try it out yourself by scanning the QR code with your phone!
a peek into
my sketchbooks~

I think you can tell that I love drawing. In my free time, I like to draw my characters and the sorts!
my original characters! ♡
From digital, to pencils, to gouache- I've loved drawing and creating art since I was young. It has always been a dream of mine to make art for a living, so I am so grateful that I am where I am today, studying the thing I love to do. I'm excited to keep on learning new things and improve my skills as an artist and designer!

I wish I could add all of my sketchbook pages into here!
